A comparative analysis of salicylic acid (SA) and ibuprofen (IBU) at 0.001–1% concentrations was performed via semi-dry seed treatment in wheat (cv. Ekada 70). Efficacy was assessed by 3-day seedling morphometrics and the GSH/GSSG ratio. Both 1% SA and 0.001% IBU showed similar growth promotion, but SA mainly affected shoots, while IBU enhanced both roots and shoots. The correlation with redox status suggests a glutathione-linked mechanism. IBU can be considered as an effective growth regulator for presowing seed treatment of wheat.
