Floating fern Salvinia natans L. (All.) is an annual floating aquatic plant of the family Salviniaceae, class Polypodiopsida. In the Republic of Bashkortostan S. natans is rare and remains as a relic of Tertiary period. In the Red Book of the Republic of Bashkortostan it is noted that floating fern is found in the western piedmont of the Ural Mountains, the lakes Mikovarkul and Nichkakul of the Nurimanovsky District, in particular. During the observation of the lakes in the south of Nurimanovsky District in 2017, we found 11 habitats of S. natans. They mostly grow in warm coastal zone, accompanied by common duckweed and frogbit.
