Summary:

Growth of plants is provided by two main processes, namely cell division and cell expansion. Cell division in plants is controlled by a variety of external and internal regulators, with the endogenous (genetic) factors being the most important. The main regulators of cell division in plants are phytohormones, transcription factors, as well as cyclins and cyclin-dependent protein kinases. This review is devoted to consideration of these important components of cellular signaling in the aspect of cell proliferation regulation. The article also describes the ARGOS proteins and CLE-peptides, which are less often considered in the study of regulation of cell division in plants.

Keywords:

cell proliferation, cell division, phytohormones, CLE-peptides, transcription factors, ARGOS, cyclins, cyclin-dependent protein kinases.
