In the laboratory strain S (susceptible) of housefly M.domestica derived from strain Cooper co-existence of two groups of individuals was detected, differ from each other as the subpopulations on the basis of life span and periods of mass reproduction. Selection by the early and late reproductive effort followed by the shortened or extended life span selection in the progeny of virgin pairs from these groups allowed to create by means of close inbreeding the strains Sh28 (average life span of adults 23-25 days) and L2 (average life span 47-52 days). In the article problems discussed connected with the selection by the polygenic traits and possible molecular mechanisms considered influencing to the rate of selection and determining the final result.
